ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (Kindergarten - Grade 5)

Grade 2 L1 - Understanding Our Bodies The student will be able to use proper names for male and female anatomy. The student will be able to describe the importance of using proper terminology when referring to body parts. 2.4.2.B.1

Grade 4 L1 - Making Sense of Puberty The student will be able to list three changes that occur during puberty, and differentiate between the physical, social and emotional changes of puberty. 2.4.4.B.1
Grade 4 L2 - Figuring Out Friendship The student will be able to list at least three characteristics of a healthy relationship. 2.4.4.B.1
Grade 5 L1 - Sexual and Reproductive Anatomy The student will be able to identify at least two male and two female reproductive parts and describe their function. 2.4.6.B.1
Grade 5 L2 - Puberty and Reproduction The student will be able to describe the process of reproduction, as well as how puberty prepares the body for reproduction. 2.4.6.B.1
Grade 5 L4 - What Is Love Anyway? The student will learn about sexual orientation and be able to identify a trusted adult they can discuss the topic with. 2.4.6.B.1

MIDDLE SCHOOL (Grades 6 - 8)

HIGH SCHOOL (Grades 9 - 12)

Grade 9 L1- They Love Me...They Love Me Not... Describe at least three characteristics of an unhealthy or emotionally abusive relationship. Explain at least one thing someone in an unhealthy or abusive relationship can do to leave that relationship. Identify their own feelings about partners' roles and responsibilities in a relationship when there is a power difference between the two. 2.4.12.A.5
Grade 9 L2 - How Well Do I Communicate With Others? Describe at least two characteristics of effective communication. Apply effective communication skills to a scenario relating to communicating with a partner about having a sexual relationship. 2.4.12.A5
Grade 9 L3 - It Wasn't My Fault The student will describe at least two impacts of rape and sexual assault on someone who has been assaulted. The student will explain why a person who has been raped or sexually assaulted is never at fault. The student will reflect on their own feelings about rape and sexual abuse. The student will name at least two online resources a rape or sexual abuse survivor can access for more information and support. 2.4.12.A.5
Grade 9 L4 - Sexual Orientation, Behavior and Identity: How I Feel, What I Do and Who I Am The student will name at least three different sexual orientations. The student will describe the three components of sexual orientation (orientation, behavior and identity) and how they are unique from and connected to each other. 2.4.12.B.4
Grade 9 L5 - Understanding Gender The student will explain what gender and gender identity are, and how they are different from biological sex. The student will define "gender script" while providing several examples of these scripts. 2.4.12.B.5
Grade 9 L6 - Decisions, Decisions The student will describe the steps involved in one decision-making model and apply the decision-making model to a scenario relating to pregnancy prevention and safer sex. 2.4.12.B.1
Grade 9 L7 - Sexual Decision-Making The student will identify various reasons why teens choose to engage or not engage in sexual behaviors. The student will identify at least three questions whose answers can help determine if they are ready to engage in sexual behavior with a partner. The student will articulate a message about sexual boundaries with a partner during a role-play activity.. 2.4.12.B.3
Grade 9 L8 - Planning and Protection: Avoiding or Managing STIs The student will name the only 100% effective way of avoiding an STI. The student will explain why having oral, anal or vaginal sex with an infected partner puts a person or couple at risk for STIs. The student will name one health clinic or center in their area that provides STI testing and treatment for teens. 2.4.12. B.2, 2.4.12.B.5
Grade 9 L9 - What If...? The student will name at least two symptoms of pregnancy. The student will explain the three choices a person has when they learn they are pregnant. The student will describe at least two reasons why a person might or might not choose each of the options. 2.4.12.C.3, 2.4.12.C.7
Grade 9 L10 - STD Smarts The student will name at least three facts about STIs. The student will describe at least three facts about STI testing. The student will apply knowledge about STI symptoms and testing to hypothetical situations relating to safer sex. The student will distinguish between an accurate online resource about STIs, and one that provides distorted, disrespectful information to youth. 2.4.12.B.5
Grade 9 L11 - Creating Condom Confidence The student will describe the steps to putting on a condom correctly. The student will demonstrate their understanding of the steps to correct condom use. The student will discuss where in the community condoms are available, and may attempt to obtain condoms on their own and discuss experience with classmates. 2.4.12.B.5
Grade 9 L1 - Rights, Respect, Responsibility: Don't Have Sex Without Them The students will define the terms "consent", "coercion", and "incapacitated". The student will differentiate between a situation in which consent is clearly given, and one in which it is not. The student will demonstrate an understanding of how giving and receiving clear consent is part of a respectful relationship. 2.4.12.A.5
Grade 9 L2 - Know Your Options The student will list at least three methods of effective birth control for teens. The student will analyze at least three factors that have an impact on a teen’s ability to successfully use birth control. the student will recall at least two reasons why a teen might want to use birth control other than preventing pregnancy. 2.4.12.B.3
Grade 9 L3 - We All Have Rights The student will describe at least three laws in their state relating to minors' rights and sexual and reproductive health. The student will identify at least one belief they have relating to sexual and reproductive decision-making. The students will apply their knowledge and self-reflection to accessing reliable and accurate information about sexuality and reproductive health-related laws. 2.4.12.B.3
Grade 11 L1 - Rights, Respect, Responsibility: Don't Have Sex Without Them The student will define sexual consent, and explain its implications for sexual decision-making. The student will explain why using coercion, tricks and threats in relationships is wrong. The student will analyze factors that can affect the ability to give consent or perceive the provision of consent to sexual activity. 2.4.12.A.5

Grade 11 L7 - Trust It or Trash It: Finding Accurate Sex Ed Info The student will be able to access medically accurate info about contraceptive methods, abstinence and condoms. matches with 6th grade standard (2.2.6.E.1), but could apply to 2.4.12.B.2
Grade 11 L1 - How Do You See Me? The student will analyze how self-concept can affect sexual decision-making. 2.4.12.B.1
