Northeast Students Participated in Annual Geography Bee
On Saturday, May 6th, 2023, Northeast held its 19th Annual Geography Bee. The Northeast Geography Bee (GeoBee) is one of the most anticipated events of the Northeast calendar. Similar to a spelling bee, the GeoBee is an opportunity for our students to showcase their knowledge of geography – in a fun and inclusive setting where all can and will feel a level of success! It is the signature event that celebrates our school’s magnet of Global Studies.
The goal of the Bee is to get Northeast students, from Kindergarten through 5th grade and their families, excited about geography and the world around us. In the months leading up to the Bee, students form teams of three and meet regularly to practice. Areas of study include geography terms, state capitals, general world geographical knowledge, manmade and natural landmarks and more. Each team is led by a parent captain.
This year, 43 teams comprised of 129 students participated. The competing rounds were broken down into: Kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 4-5th grade. The 1st place winners all received trophies and 2 tickets each to the Museum of Natural History, which was generously donated by a Northeast parent.
The 1st place winners were:

In addition to all the work that the teams and parents put in, the Geo Bee is the result of countless hours put in by the PTA, as well as a host of Northeast faculty, teachers and parents acting as judges and moderators throughout the event. It was a special event for all involved!
